Hey! My name is Nick, and I am a PR/premed student at the University of Texas at Austin. I enjoy long walks on the beach, a cold beer, and SAILBOATS... Unfortunately, I've never sailed a boat before, much less built one, but I am hoping all of that will soon change...
The Makeshift Armada Project is, above all else, my attempt to to keep myself sane through the continual droning of college life. As I will most likely be in school for quite some time (only a decade or so), this will probably be a very long project. The goals of the Makeshift Armada Project are to learn as much about sailing and boatbuilding as possible. Ultimately, the goal will be to build a decent-sized sailboat from scratch!
I am starting with practically no knowledge of woodworking, boat building, or sailing. As I delve further into this matter, I will log my experiences here with as many useful links as possible so that it may help others begin their own projects. That being said, I am also glad to hear from anyone with expertise in these areas, and please don't hesitate to correct anything in my posts if you know better.
